MH CET Law 2026 Eligibility Criteria

To appear for the MH CET Law 2026 exam, candidates must meet the eligibility conditions set by the State CET Cell, Maharashtra. The requirements differ for the 5-Year Integrated BA LLB program (after Class 12) and the 3-Year LLB program (after graduation).

MH CET Law 2026 – 5-Year Integrated BA LLB program

Candidates must have passed the 10+2 (HSC) examination or its equivalent from a recognized board or university. The minimum marks required in the qualifying exam are as follows:

General / EWS                                                 : 45% aggregate marks.

OBC / VJ / NT / SBC (Maharashtra)             : 42% aggregate marks.

SC / ST (Maharashtra)                                    : 40% aggregate marks.

Eligibility for MH CET Law 2026 – 3-Year LLB Program

To be eligible for MH CET Law 2026 in the 3-year LLB program, candidates must have completed a Bachelor’s degree in any discipline from a UGC recognized university.

The minimum marks required in the qualifying graduation exam are category-dependent:

General / EWS                                                 : 45% aggregate

OBC / VJ / NT / SBC (Maharashtra)             : 42% aggregate

SC / ST (Maharashtra candidates)               : 40% aggregate

MH CET Law 2026 Exam Pattern

MH CET Law 2026 – Selection Process

The selection of candidates for admission to 5-Year Integrated BA LLB and 3-Year LLB programs in Maharashtra is strictly merit-based, determined by the MH CET Law 2026 scores. The process involves the following steps:

Appear in MH CET Law 2026 – Candidates must register and successfully complete the Computer-Based Test (CBT) conducted by the State CET Cell, Maharashtra. The test evaluates students in areas including Legal Aptitude & Reasoning, General Knowledge & Current Affairs, Logical & Analytical Reasoning, English Language, and Basic Mathematics (only for 5-Year LLB).

Result Declaration – After the exam, the CET Cell publishes the official merit list and cut-off marks for various categories (General, EWS, OBC, VJ/NT/SBC, SC/ST) on its website.

Merit List & Ranking – Candidates are ranked based on their total marks obtained in the CET exam. In case of a tie, CET Cell applies tie-breaking criteria such as marks in Legal Aptitude, then English, then Logical Reasoning, and so on.

Counselling & Seat Allotment – Qualified candidates are called for online counselling conducted by the CET Cell. Seats are allotted according to merit, category reservation, and choice of college. Candidates must complete document verification during the counselling process.

Admission Confirmation – Once a seat is allotted, candidates must accept the seat and pay the admission fees to confirm enrollment in the selected law college. Failure to complete this step may result in the seat being offered to the next candidate on the merit list.

Note- on Difficulty Level of 5-Year vs 3-Year MH CET Law Exams:

The syllabus for MH CET Law (5-Year and 3-Year LLB) is almost the same in terms of topics. Both exams cover:

👉 The only subject difference is that Mathematics (up to Class 10 level) is included only in the 5-Year LLB exam, while it is not part of the 3-Year LLB exam.

  • Covers the same topics as the 3-Year exam, but at a basic, school-level.

Legal Aptitude: “If a person is arrested without warrant, which Article of the Constitution can be used for remedy?”

What is the difference between 3 year LLB and 5 year LLB?

The 3 year LLB is a program that can be pursued only after the completion of graduation. It is a postgraduate while the 5 year LLB course is pursued by the students after class 12th. The students pursue BA, BBA, or B.com along with LLB in this program.

Who will provide the MH CET LAW exam pattern?

The exam pattern of the MH CET LAW is set by The Directorate of Higher Education (DHE). It Is the coordinating body of the state examinations.

How can I get admission in LLB in Maharashtra?

Is CET compulsory for the law?

No, national law entrance examinations are not compulsory to get admission to the law universities of India. There are many universities that conduct their entrance tests and qualifying them would definitely give you admission to those universities.

Who can give MAH CET?

Candidates should at least have a graduation degree with a minimum of 50% marks. Final years students can also sit for the examination but their results should be declared before the start of the course. Any candidate who fulfils the mentioned criteria is eligible for the examination.
