What is CLAT?
The Common Law Admission Test (CLAT) is a national-level entrance examination conducted by the Consortium of National Law Universities (Consortium of NLUs) for admission to undergraduate and postgraduate law programmes offered by participating National Law Universities.
For undergraduate admissions, CLAT provides an opportunity to pursue five-year integrated LL.B. programmes at participating NLUs. CLAT 2027 will be used for admissions to programmes commencing in the 2027–28 academic year.

CLAT 2027 Eligibility Criteria
Candidates seeking admission through CLAT 2027 UG should meet the prescribed eligibility requirements:
- Candidates must have passed Class 12 or an equivalent examination from a recognised board.
- Candidates from the General/OBC and other applicable categories must have secured at least 45% marks or an equivalent grade.
- Candidates belonging to SC/ST/PwD categories must have secured at least 40% marks or an equivalent grade.
- There is no upper age limit for candidates appearing for the CLAT UG programme.
- Students appearing for their qualifying examination in 2027 may also apply. However, they must provide proof of having passed the qualifying examination at the time of admission.

CLAT 2027 Exam Pattern
The CLAT 2027 UG examination consists of 120 multiple-choice questions carrying one mark each. The examination is conducted for two hours, with 0.25 marks deducted for every incorrect answer.

Legal Reasoning
This section evaluates a candidate’s ability to understand legal principles or rules presented in passages and apply them to given factual situations. Prior knowledge of law is not required to attempt the questions.
Logical Reasoning
This section tests the ability to understand arguments, identify premises and conclusions, draw inferences, analyse reasoning, identify relationships and evaluate arguments.
Quantitative Techniques
This section tests the ability to interpret numerical information and apply mathematical operations to solve questions based on the information provided.

How much percentage is required for CLAT?
If the question means how much percentage is required to be eligible for the examination, then it is 45%. General category students must have at least 45% marks in their class 12th while SC and ST must have 40% for the same.
What is the passing mark for CLAT?
There is no specific passing or qualifying marks for CLAT. Each year, the cutoff changes, and if a candidate scores equal to or more than the cut-off, then he or she can easily get into any of the National Law Universities of India.
Can I prepare for CLAT in 4 months?

There are separate seat allotments for post-graduation law admissions and undergraduate law admission through CLAT. The allotment of seats changes every year. There are 507 seats for pos graduates while 2300 for under graduates.
Is there negative marking in CLAT?
CLAT examination consists of 150 questions which are of class 12th level. For both the UG and PG examinations, candidates are awarded one mark for each correct answer while 0.25 marks are subtracted for each incorrect answer.
Is maths compulsory for CLAT?
There are no such criteria that mention Mathematics as a compulsory subject to be eligible to sit for the CLAT examination. Students from any stream are it humanities, commerce or science can sit for the examination.
