About CCMC Course
CCMC stands for Certificate Course in Maritime Catering. It is a 6-month pre-sea training programme approved by the Directorate General of Shipping (DG Shipping), Government of India.
The course is designed for candidates who want to build a career in the Catering and Hospitality Department of the Merchant Navy, including commercial vessels and passenger or cruise ships.
CCMC is different from technical Merchant Navy entry routes because Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics are generally not mandatory for admission. Candidates must satisfy the current eligibility criteria of the selected training institute.
Training generally covers food production, food and beverage service, galley operations, food safety and hygiene, housekeeping, catering operations, maritime safety and basic shipboard discipline.

CCMC Eligibility Criteria
Passed 10th Standard from a recognised board with a minimum of 40% aggregate marks and 40% marks in English.
Age Limit
The minimum age is 17.5 years and the maximum age is 25 years.
Medical Standards for CCMC
Medical: Candidates should meet the prescribed eyesight (6/18 in each eye, or 6/12 in the better eye and 6/24 in the other eye), normal colour vision, adequate hearing and overall physical fitness requirements, subject to applicable DG Shipping medical standards and examination by a DG Shipping-approved medical practitioner.
CCMC Entrance Exam Syllabus
CCMC entrance tests may vary from institute to institute and can include an entrance exam, merit-based selection, interview, or a combination. The general preparation syllabus covers English, Reasoning, Mathematics, General Knowledge, General Science, Current Affairs, Basic Shipping Knowledge and Basic Catering Awareness.

CCMC Admission Process
Step 1: Online Application

Important Note for Students
CCMC is not an officer-entry course such as DNS, B.Sc. Nautical Science, Marine Engineering or ETO. It is a pre-sea maritime catering programme for candidates interested in catering, food service and hospitality-related roles onboard ships.

- NUSI Maritime Academy, Goa
NUSI Maritime Academy offers a 6-month fully residential CCMC course. The programme trains candidates in stewarding, cooking, food and beverage service, housekeeping and basic shipboard safety. The course also includes mandatory Basic STCW training.
Eligibility: Candidates must have passed 10th Standard with at least 40% aggregate marks and 40% marks in English from a recognised board.
Age Limit: Candidates should be between 18 and 25 years before entering training, according to NUSI’s current CCMC course information.
Medical Requirements: NUSI currently specifies a minimum height of 158 cm, BMI between 20 and 30, normal colour and field of vision, no squint or eye disease, and the applicable physical fitness standards.
Course Fee: The current course page lists ₹2,50,000, including boarding and lodging. Uniform and caution money are additional. Fees are subject to change.
Selection: NUSI states that selection involves a written and oral test covering English Grammar, Mathematics, Science and General Knowledge up to Class 10 level.
Training: The course is fully residential, with compulsory attendance and practical training including swimming, parade and campus upkeep.

International Maritime Institute (IMI), Greater Noida offers a 6-month Certificate Course in Maritime Catering (CCMC) designed to prepare candidates for catering-related duties onboard merchant ships. The programme covers food production, food service, housekeeping, hygiene, safety and practical maritime catering training.
Eligibility: Candidates must have passed 10th Standard with at least 40% marks, including the required English criteria. Candidates who have passed 12th or hold a degree/diploma may also be eligible, subject to IMI’s applicable admission conditions.
Age Limit: Candidates should generally be 17.5 to 25 years of age at the commencement of the course, subject to the institute’s applicable eligibility conditions.
