Details about the NDA examination
The National Defense Academy (NDA) is India’s first tri-service academy that trains candidates for all the three armed forces wings under one roof. Students that want to become a part of either of the Indian armed forces, viz, the air force, navy, or army have to clear the NDA examination.
The UPSC conducts the entrance examination twice a year, namely NDA I & NDA II exam. After clearing all the selection stages, the candidate gets admission to the country’s most prestigious and esteemed academy.
Exam Pattern
- The NDA exam is an MCQ based test.
- A written exam consists of a 900 marks (Mathematics: 300 marks and General Ability: 600 marks) paper.
- 1/3rd of the allocated marks are deducted for each wrong answer.
- The negative marking scheme doesn’t apply on the unanswered questions.

Selection Process
The NDA aspirants have to clear the three selection stages to become eligible for the applied post.
- Written Test
- Interview with SSC
- Medical Test
Only those NDA aspirants are called for the interview that clear the written test by obtaining the qualifying marks. Post clearing the interview, the selected candidates are called for a medical test.
